Fashion Week Highlights Day 3
Friday, 25 September 2009 10:55

Day 3 at Air New Zealand Fashion Week was dominated by the ghd New Generation show as well as Adrian Hailwood and of course the off-site show of Stolen Girlfriend's Club.

The weather this afternoon was a pretty good reflection of what was going on in the Green Room and backstage today - crazy.

Eight labels were presenting their collection during the ghd New Generation show that started with an delay that paid off in the end.

As backstage was crazy only the minimum amount of people were allowed inside.

And even when we got the chance to sneak in at the end, it was just too crowded to do anything: take a proper shot or talk to anyone, because everyone was running around looking for something, pushing their way through the crowd, getting dressed or having their make up done. Again everyone backstage was giving their best to present a breath taking runway show.

By now it got quite warm in the backstage area and the sound of heavy rain falling on the top of the Westpac tent made it harder to talk which increased the stress even though just for a tiny amount, it was noticeable.

When the producer finally called out the models to line up, all people involved felt a bit of a relief really.

The show itself was a highlight showing eight very different, innovative, refreshing, futuristic, and unique NZ designer talents including Serena Fagence who caught the attention of the audience with her avant-garde design supported by Bionic Pixie life on stage, as well as Chapel, Emmaford, ISBIM, Trix & Dandy, Whiri, House of EZIS, and Tara Cunniffe who was supported by REMIX magazine ended the show with her stunning collection of fine art dresses.

Backstage at Adrian Hailwood's show was just one topic: the shoes! Known in the model scene as the killer heels one could literally feel the pain by purely looking at them. All the models did really well though in the end presenting the outstanding collection of Adrian Hailwood.

The day ended by driving to the off-site show of Stolen Girlfriend's Club, where everything was very exclusive, but once we found the right door to the backstage area we were amazed by this stunning location whose rooms almost looked ballroom-like. The runway was interesting through the division into two rooms: GA and seated. The wine was served in old glass jars not wine glasses which pretty much sums up everything else I could possibly have to say. The clothes and styling rocked and so did the show. Cheers.

UH! Tomorrow, we are all secretly excited...
